Learn.
Experiment.
Build.
Open firmware, open reference hardware, and a free companion app for enthusiasts, students, educators, Makers, developers, and engineers who want to learn, experiment, and build ESP-powered drones.
A practical flight foundation for learning, hands-on experimentation, custom hardware, and ideas that can grow further.

Everything between an idea and the air.
ESPFlight keeps the core pieces together so you can spend less time assembling unrelated tools and more time learning how a drone works, experimenting with it, and developing your own ideas.
Open firmware
A focused flight-control stack for ESP-powered drones: stabilization, telemetry, safety logic, assisted flight and a network control protocol.
Open hardware
Start from a reference board, study how it works, then adapt the layout and form factor for your own build.
Companion app
One polished control surface for flying, configuration and telemetry across ESPFlight-compatible drones.
A working foundation should be a starting point, not a cage.
Building a small flying platform means solving the same hard foundations again and again: flight control, hardware integration, telemetry, configuration, safety behavior, and a usable control app.
ESPFlight exists so builders can start from a shared foundation, understand how the pieces work together, and spend more time experimenting, developing, and creating something of their own.
Read the philosophyESPFlight is not here to define what everyone builds. It is here to give people a foundation they can learn from and make their own.
Firmware is licensed under the MIT License and the hardware reference under CERN-OHL-P-2.0. The ESPFlight Application is free to use and closed-source. ESPFlight names, logos, “Powered by ESPFlight,” and Partner marks are governed separately by the Brand Policy.
Your board. Your shape. Your idea.
ESPFlight is infrastructure, not a product shape you have to copy. Start with the reference design, understand it, change what your project needs, and make the result your own.
A path that stays simple.
Start with a first learning build. Keep going into custom hardware, your own kit, or an independent product if that becomes your goal. The same core is designed to support the journey.

One control surface for the whole ecosystem.
Fly, tune, inspect telemetry and manage your drone from a companion experience built around ESPFlight from day one.
Choose your starting point. Keep your freedom.

If you choose to turn a project into a kit or product, your own identity stays in front. ESPFlight remains the underlying platform, and reserved brand wording such as “Powered by ESPFlight” follows the Brand Policy.
