OPEN ESP-BASED DRONE PLATFORM

Learn.
Experiment.
Build.

Open firmware, open reference hardware, and a free companion app for enthusiasts, students, educators, Makers, developers, and engineers who want to learn, experiment, and build ESP-powered drones.

A practical flight foundation for learning, hands-on experimentation, custom hardware, and ideas that can grow further.

Why ESPFlight exists

A working foundation should be a starting point, not a cage.

Building a small flying platform means solving the same hard foundations again and again: flight control, hardware integration, telemetry, configuration, safety behavior, and a usable control app.

ESPFlight exists so builders can start from a shared foundation, understand how the pieces work together, and spend more time experimenting, developing, and creating something of their own.

THE ESPFLIGHT IDEA
ESPFlight is not here to define what everyone builds. It is here to give people a foundation they can learn from and make their own.
01Start ahead. Use a working firmware, reference design, and companion app instead of rebuilding the same foundation.
02Make it yours. Change the hardware, test ideas, learn from the results, and shape a build that reflects your own goals.
03Keep the path open. The same foundation can support learning, teaching, experimentation, custom hardware, and optional independent kits or products without turning access into a permission gate.

Firmware is licensed under the MIT License and the hardware reference under CERN-OHL-P-2.0. The ESPFlight Application is free to use and closed-source. ESPFlight names, logos, “Powered by ESPFlight,” and Partner marks are governed separately by the Brand Policy.

Make it yours

Your board. Your shape. Your idea.

ESPFlight is infrastructure, not a product shape you have to copy. Start with the reference design, understand it, change what your project needs, and make the result your own.

A path that stays simple.

Start with a first learning build. Keep going into custom hardware, your own kit, or an independent product if that becomes your goal. The same core is designed to support the journey.

Platform underneath

If there is a name on the box, it stays yours.

If you choose to turn a project into a kit or product, your own identity stays in front. ESPFlight remains the underlying platform, and reserved brand wording such as “Powered by ESPFlight” follows the Brand Policy.

If you choose to take a mature project further, the ESPFlight Partner Program offers an optional closer connection to the ecosystem. Partner status is never required to learn, experiment, build, modify, or create under the published licenses.
