FIRMWARE

MIT License

ESPFlight Firmware is open-source software. It may be used, modified, distributed, incorporated into other projects, and used commercially subject to the MIT License.

HARDWARE

CERN-OHL-P-2.0

ESPFlight Hardware Reference designs use the permissive CERN Open Hardware Licence v2 and may be studied, modified, built upon, distributed, and used as a foundation for independent hardware and products subject to the license.

DOCUMENTATION

CC BY 4.0

Except where otherwise noted, ESPFlight Documentation may be shared and adapted, including commercially, with the attribution and change-notice requirements of CC BY 4.0.

APPLICATION

Proprietary

ESPFlight Application is proprietary software. Official unmodified versions may be used under the Application license terms; the Application source code is not released under an open-source license.

Firmware

ESPFlight Firmware is open-source software licensed under the MIT License.

The firmware may be used, modified, distributed, incorporated into other projects, and used in commercial projects subject to the MIT License. The ESPFlight name, logo, and other brand assets are not included in the MIT License.

Hardware Reference

ESPFlight Hardware Reference designs are licensed under the CERN Open Hardware Licence Version 2 — Permissive (CERN-OHL-P-2.0).

The Hardware Reference may be studied, modified, built upon, distributed, and used as the foundation for independent hardware, kits, and products subject to the license. ESPFlight branding is not included in the open hardware license.

Except where otherwise noted, ESPFlight Documentation is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Documentation may be shared, adapted, translated, modified, and reused, including for commercial purposes, subject to the requirements of CC BY 4.0. Third-party materials remain subject to their respective licenses and rights.

ESPFlight Application is proprietary software.

Official unmodified versions may be used according to the ESPFlight Application license terms. Redistribution, modification, repackaging, sublicensing, or presentation of the Application as software belonging to another project, product, or brand is not permitted except where separately authorized or required by applicable law.

Independent hardware, kits, and products may be designed to work with the ESPFlight Application.

ESPFlight Brand

The ESPFlight name, logo, visual identity, and other brand assets are separate from the open-source, open-hardware, and documentation licenses.

Independent projects and products may accurately describe themselves as “Based on ESPFlight”, “Built using ESPFlight”, “Compatible with ESPFlight”, “Uses ESPFlight Firmware”, or “Designed for use with the ESPFlight Application”, provided the reference is accurate and does not imply unauthorized endorsement, certification, sponsorship, partnership, or official status.

Independent products must use their own names and branding.
